Variations on Form and Fold

In these series, I work with clay, as if it were fabric. I fold, drape, and bend the material to test how far it can move while still holding its structure. I am drawn to the tension between what the clay is and what it can appear to be.

The work begins with simple folded vessels and gradually shifts towards more layered forms, where surface and structure become inseparable. Lace patterns and drapery are not applied decoration; they shape the form and give it weight.

I am interested in the moment when movement becomes still - when a soft gesture is fixed in clay. Each piece holds that pause, balancing strength and fragility in a single, suspended form.

This body of work was creating during the Artist in Residence Program at Trout Museum of Art in 2025-2026
